Save before changing version, previous was from two weeks ago, errors started with two days ago and today version from fcpregmod.com.
On Android there no option to compile, so this seem to be the only way to access the game these days.

Yes, I've had the message popup on loading the game on loading the game after replacing the .html.
After which I've been able to run a turn but there wasn't a battle so it lead to an issue there.

I was referring to using to the blue links at the bottom of the following screenshot.
Running the "Load from Disk" option of the above save produces,

Attempting find out where to drop said file is less than ideal.
If that is not possible, a screenshot (usually created by hitting both the power and lower volume buttons together) might be the only option.
Interesting, no idea why but I've not seen these buttons for some times, aka since playing over PC so about a year ago.
This save is from using joiplay, as otherwise they aren't available, put on rooted part of the drive. Meaning its a basic saves put in the saves folders of the the game. Joiplay setup, can be made as one want, as to better admin its by genre then theme's. Joiplay interface itself doesn't spspport much changes so keeping more than 20 gamnes mean its getting cramped.
Seem that track is closed early, out of figuring why the three buttons disappeared.
Not sure how to handle further debugging then.
Joiplay allow for renpy, htm and RPG maker to be run using a dedicated and customisable interface.
Not sure how popular it his since I've seen it shared over F95 (its a recode of another earlier tool, using dedicated library's).
Overall it allow for far better performance along with providing direction buttons and custom ones, which mean another tool isn't needed. Another good aide is that some games get mods and patchs or more common : compressed.
As such, if the apk version are often using the compressed as basis, its better to use PC version as its then quick and easy to manage files and is usually way smaller.
Another more rare aspect is support for non convertible to apk games, Lab rats 2 is the only one know so far.
As amount of entry keep increasing and development is boosted (as here, shared files). Of course it took months until the game had enough taste (content) to interest others. But its fine now, with several new NPC.
The game has an obedience stat since way earlier, while its not developed so far (seen a mod addding base : room where asking then collaring, but was retired from compilation mod for some time already.

For now, NPC are relatively generic dialog wise, they each have collection of clothes to uses which can be customized. Knowing the games has less than 15 profiles, 7 for general pool, remaining for individuals (MC family then new NPC, the ones with content mostly as it is).
That game will probably reach renpy limit at some point, guess there no surprise.

Edit : Tue "delete all" is there, its me not using it since usually not in a situation adequate.
Still, the missing save to disk and load file are useful functions since it seem saves format don't keep from joiplay. I've no idea what happen as Renpy, RPGm and the few unity who are compatible are fine to edit from saveedit.com or dedicated website (AtomRPG and few others).
Edit : tried saveedit.com and its better : autosave is recognized alright but not the others.. (slots user save).
This said format isn't recognized so its a pain to edit. I'll try to c/c to notepad++'in case.
My current arcolgy don't like implant work which was and is still used on the most hideous ones. Finding the ones concerned is a pain, guess easyest would be to list from week report then edit theses.

The size of the save are very different, free-cities.auto and free-cities.state being 3mo while slots are 1000 to 820kb.
Meaning part of the data's isn't saved in slots saves ? Confusing but since its user side guess it end here ? May be worth it to ask over joiplay discord but as the game work fine its confusing..

Here is a save with the error. I believe it started after I got the mercenaries. This was a save created on version: 0.10.7.1, mod version: 3.8.3, build: 1112 there was no version change like the OP
Alright I don't know if any one is looking at this due to the ops problems getting the file. I tested a few things and it's not the mercenaries. I looked at the code and also couldn't find anything unusual about the location the error is occurring.
So I kept checking stuff. If you select force battle in the options the error doesn't occur. The same battle happens with all the same text but it works properly with no errors. However if you turn off force battle the same error will continue occur.
Also interesting is that if you turn off battles but leave the mod running with rebels the battle will still attempt to trigger with the errors. Although if you force rebellion the rebellion will trigger normally. Very strange. Also of note the error still occurs if you turn off rebellions and leave battles on. If you shut down the mod completely the error won't occur but you won't have any rebels or combat as expected.
